I have a good reason...

I know I have been slacking off with posting anything on this blog.  Here are my reasons:

I haven't felt like making anything new.
Somedays I haven't felt like  eating anything.
A lot of days lately I have felt yucky and REALLY tired.
My new bed time is around 9pm.  I can't stay up later anymore.
Sometimes I've even fallen asleep on the couch by like 8.
I have been having weird cravings-some that I am quite embarrassed of (can somebody say Big Mac?), and healthy foods sound kind of yucky sometimes.
Doughnuts also sound really, really good.

The reason behind these reasons:
I'm pregnant!  Today I am 10 weeks pregnant, and I am excited that I am finally that far along.  This is the second ultrasound picture we had, done yesterday.  It was so fun to see the baby and its heart beat.

We do have some minor complications we are dealing with, nothing to worry too much about-
They found a small blood clot in between the placenta and the uterus at my first ultrasound, which is why I had a second yesterday-to make sure it is getting smaller or gone- and I think the tech said it is getting smaller.  I will get the more specific details from my dr today or tomorrow.  There is a 95% percent chance that it will just dissapear.  We are praying we are part of that 95%.
They also found that I had Antibody E in my blood- the issue with this is that if the ratio of antigens to antibodies get to big, there is a chance that the anti-E's in my body could attack the baby, especially if the baby doesn't have any of them in its system.  This can cause the baby to become anemic within the womb, or be born anemic or jaundiced.  They take my blood every month to make sure that ratio doesn't go up.

These are minor worries at this point, and I'm grateful we don't have any bigger issues to deal with.  But, this is why I haven't shared yet-I just wanted to see the baby again before I did.

I'm trying really hard to stay healthy during my pregnancy, although there has been a few weeks, at the beginning, that all I wanted was hamburgers and onion rings, or fries.  I'm doing better now.  We eat out less, and I really make treats less, because they just don't sound that yummy.

Good news though, I've only gained 3 pounds so far, as opposed to the ten I had probably already gained with my first by this time.  I attribute it to working out 6 days a week (I think this is my life saver) and trying to eat healthier (although I'm not depriving myself in the least bit.  Trust me.).  Luckily I do eat healthier than my last pregnancy, which is REALLY good.

My goals this pregnancy:
Ultimately to not gain 50 pounds-I don't want to have to go through the emotional roller coaster of gaining that much weight.
Eat healthy
Exercise 6 days a week

I'm super excited to be pregnant, and hope that the second trimester will be easier than the first.
Can't wait to meet this addition to our family around September 20!

Congratulations! I thought you and Scott might be, but just a hunch. I hope no more complications arise. And Scott will have a nice birthday present.

Congrats Alisa, we are so so so excited for you!!!! It is amazing the things we / our babies go through to get here - we will keep you both in our prayers! I had similar issues with my #3 and though that was my hardest pregnancy she ended up being ok (though she had to be in the bili bed for 2 weeks and we hardly got to touch her) such is life.... LOVE YOU!!!!! Good luck with everything!!!
Oh - and don't be too hard on yourself as far as weight gain, you can only do what you can do - and ultimatly the most important thing is the health of both you and the baby. For me I am not allowed to exercise at all the first 20 weeks which makes it hard, but it always works out ok.... we do what we can, right?
