Feeling a wee-bit guilty

Last night my husband and I had our valentine's dinner.  I know, its a week late but to get reservations where we wanted, we had to go last night.  It was worth the wait.  We have unique opportunities to do things now that we live in such a big city (I love Dallas!) and last night was no exception.  We decided we would splurge, a lot, and go to a restaurant called Five Sixty, which happens to be owned by Wolfgang Puck.  Puck is a world renown chef, and we wanted some good food so we went there.  The other highlights of going- we ate in a tower with a ball at the top where there is a rotating restaurant.  That's right, it rotates-while we sit there eat.  How cool is that? And oh, the food was TO.DIE.FOR.  We decided we would go all out and get "first tastes", entrees, and desserts.  YUM!!!!!!  For a first taste I got pork belly dumplings (my absolute favorite thing I ate).  For an entree I got Quail (I decided to be adventurous, and I'm glad I did!).  My dessert was Peanut Butter Mousse with banana chocolate chip ice cream and banana caramel sauce (HEAVEN!).  What an experience!  I ate every single bite and did not feel guilty about it....

until I watched the biggest loser episode and was reminded of calories counts by their lovely temptation challenge and how deceiving food can be in that area. Then I told my husband how guilty I felt because surely what I ate was not low calorie.  And he reminded me of something very important.  He said, "But you don't eat like that every day".  And, he's right.  Last night was definitely a splurge, a fun splurge, and one I don't regret after his comment.  Life is about moderation, and health is not exception.  Sometimes its okay to let yourself have the really fun stuff, as long as your good and eat healthy the rest of the time.  My husband is so wise and I am grateful he reminded me of that.  Moderation is a sustainable way to live, and I'm grateful I live that way.  Its the best diet secret around! :)

Now to start a healthy day where I exercise and eat right.  Let's be healthy!

That is true. I feel guilty with what I eat to but I don't eat like a crazy-person everyday so its okay every once and a while. Plus, if you are hitting the gym and burning calories I think you are good. Don't worry!!! You look great and doing a great job! :)
