Put your mind to it!

When people tell me they can't do something, I think in my head, "No, you just don't know you CAN do it."  If you really want to do something and set your mind to it to make it happen, it will happen, end of story.  You won't know you can do it unless you try.  If you want to do something like lose weight, exercise more, eat healthier, give birth naturally, run a race, get a degree, etc, decide you are going to do it.  Write it down.  Create an action plan.  Then do it.  From past experience, I know that if I  set my mind to anything I can do it.  I have to be willing to do the work to make it happen, and if I am then it will happen.  The sky is the limit,  Once you realize your potential you can do anything.  If you are scared or anxious you won't accomplish what you want look at the people before you who have done what you want to do and use them as your example.  One of my favorite mantras I repeat is, "If they can do it, then I can to."  I can look like Jillian Michaels and trainermomma in the sense that I can have toned arms and flat abs, I just have to be willing to eat really healthy and train hard.  If they can do it so can I.

You can do it.  Set your mind to it and do it.

Something I've put my mind to-
I'm going to do races next year.  I've decided I'm not running the half.  Not because  I can't.  I know I can.  I'm not going to run it because I don't want 2 hours of training sometimes to take me away from family time.  I also considered the fact that I have arthritis and I really don't want my arthritis to get worse because I run a half.  So instead I'm going to run 5ks and 10ks.  There are quite a few next year here in Dallas, so I'm going to do them.  I'll start with the one on the same day the half is taking place.  My goal is to gradually increase my speed and get better at my overall time.  I'm excited and have started running this week.  Yay!

I think that focusing on shorter distances and faster times is a great goal! I actually think that's funner to work on then distance. But maybe that's just me. So, I'm doing a half in March but my real goal is to do a full marathon at the end of next year. But after I've hit that goal, then I might just work on short but fast.
