Blessings of reading the scriptures

I am so glad that I was inspired to start memorizing scriptures with my daughters in the morning. I had a great opportunity to use the scripture of the week this I go walking/running most mornings after I drop off my daughter at school. Usually I see the same people each morning on my walk and I've developed a "Hello, how are you?" type of relationship with most of them. There is nothing like smiling and saying hi to people and receving a smile back. Smiles are addictive. I promise. Anyhow, two women were walking and a was passing them so they started a conversation with me. I was almost done with my walk and was on my last lap. We introduced ourselves formally (saying hi for a couple of months probably warranted that right?). I quickly found out they were Christian and we had a great gospel discussion. I shared that I was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Then the flood gates opened. We talked about missionary work. We talked about the scriptures. I told them how important scriptures were to me and shared that I have my children memorize a scriptures a week to which comment they were surprised. Then they asked what scripture was this week. I was so grateful in that moment that I had made an extra effort the last to days to memorize it! I told them the scripture verse and I felt the spirit flood over me and I got goosebumps. We talked about so many other things. I testified that The Book of Mormon is the word of God, another testament of Jesus Christ. I told them what President Monson was a prophet and I told them what he taught in last general conference. I felt the spirit so much. I ended up walking a half hour longer than I was planning to.   I was so richly impressed by these women and their dedication to Christ.  It is so wonderful to learn from people of other faiths.  We all have knowledge we can share with other people.  We all have something to give. What we talked about on my walk is exactly what the scripture of the week is about:

"We talk of Christ, we rejoice in Christ, we preach of Christ".

This is why reading your scriptures and studying the words so intently is so important. You don't know when you will have the opportunity to call upon the word of God for your comfort, for the comfort of others, for sharing the gospel, for helping you find answers.  It is so important to read the scriptures. They are such a great blessing in my life.

What scripture has most recently blessed you?
