Easy & Healthy Homemade Granola
I probably wrote down this recipe 6 months ago, and I just haven't made it. I am contemplating the idea of just eating homemade stuff for breakfast instead of my everyday usual-Kashi go lean plus Fiber 1 original- but I just don't think I can forsake my cereal love. The only problem is that I love baking, and I bake a ton of stuff, so we always have homemade bread, or muffins, or something that I can eat for breakfast instead. There is also the appealing factor of not spending $3+ on a cereal box. Then I got the idea that I can still get the crunch I want by making my OWN cereal! I was on the hunt for a low fat and low calorie granola recipe (something that was proving hopeless) and eventually came across this recipe. It only has 1 tablespoon of oil. Its sweetened with honey and applesauce, and has some just good-for-you ingredients. Maybe I will be able forsake my store-bought cereal love and love homemade cereal instead? It gives me my crunch I want, wihtout blowing my calorie and money budget out of the water! It tastes really good, but the jury is still out on whether or not I can forever stay away from cereal (probably not, I love that stuff so much! But, this will be a nice change!).
The recipe can be found here:
The only thing I omitted was the dried fruit. I prefer fresh fruit in my cereal. Without the dried fruit, the granola is 108 calories for 1/2 a cup! That is a steal!
