Scripture Power Series 2 Nephi 25:26

I love learning from the prophet Nephi in the Book of Mormon.  His style of writing is plain and easy to understand.  I get giddy with excitement whenever I start the Book of Mormon over because I get to read stories about Nephi and his family.  His voice is so familiar to me now.  It is true what Elder Scott said last week in my scripture power series post? He said that scriptures can be like best friends that you can come to any time you want.  Well, that is Nephi.  He is like a best friend to me and I can't wait till I go to Heaven because I will get to meet him.  How cool will that be? Probably one of my favorite scripture heroes for sure.

In my scripture study last night, I turned to what is commonly known among Mormons as "Nephi's psalm".  At the time I was feeling frustrated with myself over my weaknesses and frustrations and found comfort in his words which are found in 2 Nephi 4:17-35. Read it if you have a chance. Here are my favorite verses (34-35):

"O Lord, I have trusted in thee, and I will trust in thee forever.

I will not put my trust in the arm of flesh; for know that cursed is he that putteth his trust in the arm of flesh.

Yea, cursed is he that putteth his trust in man or maketh flesh his arm.

"Yea, I know that God will give liberally to him that asketh.

Yea, my God will give me, if I ask not amiss;

therefore I will lift up my voice unto thee; yea, I will cry unto thee, my God, the rock of my righteousness.

Behold, my voice shall forever ascend up unto thee, my rock and mine everlasting God. Amen."

As I read his psalm all the words he wrote echoed in my heart as my own.  The Lord has always put prophets on the earth since ancient times to preach of Christ, to prophesy of Christ, and to write of Christ so that we may know where we can find comfort.  Nephi wrote words of comfort in his Psalm.  They are a continued source of comfort for me.

For the Scripture Powers series Scripture of the week, I have chosen 2 Nephi 25:26, more of Nephi's words:

2 Nephi 25;26

I hope we can all strive to teach our children of Christ, because it is only through Jesus Christ that we can find a remission for our sins.  I am so grateful for that knowledge.  I am grateful that I have so many resources to teach my children about our loving Savior.  I thank my Father who is in Heaven for the scriptures.  They are our road map that will help lead us home.  They provide the recipe for life.

Do you like the prophet Nephi?  What is your favorite scripture from 1 and 2 Nephi?
