Scripture Power Series- Moses 1:39
I love the scriptures, if you can't tell yet. There is a funny thing that happens when you study the scriptures-the more you study the scriptures the more you want to read them. The less you read them, the lower your desire is to pick them up. So, moral of the story: Read your scriptures often! :) Seriously though, I can tell when I haven't been very diligent in my scripture study when I don't feel like reading them. The more I read, the more desperately I ache for the written word. There is a great discourse on the "Power of Scriptures" given by Elder Richard G. Scott, an apostle of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints

Please take a chance to watch this video. Here are a few of my favorite quotes from his talk:
"They (the scriptures) can become stalwart friends that are not limited by geography or calendar. They are always available when needed. Their use provides a foundation of truth that can be awakened by the Holy Ghost. Learning, pondering, searching, and memorizing scriptures is like filling a filing cabinet with friends, values, and truths that can be called upon anytime, anywhere in the world."
"Scriptures can communicate different meanings at different times in our life, according to our needs. A scripture that we may have read many times can take on nuances of meaning that are refreshing and insightful when we face a new challenge in life."
I love this quote because it is so true. It is so exciting to start a book of scripture again just to learn something new even though you have read it before.
Now, onto the scripture my family will be memorizing for the week:
I am so happy for a loving God. This work says his work and his glory is to bring to pass our immortality and eternal life. Immortality. Do you know how many TV shows, Movies, Books, etc that are written about someone who is seeking a way that they can obtain immortality? I don't either. There is a lot. The subject often go to extreme lengths to try and achieve that goal. Heavenly Father is telling us in this scripture, that this is His greatest goal for all of us. We don't have to find the Holy Grail. We don't have to drink some special liquid or brush Rapunzel's hair while singing a special song. All we have to do is follow the commandments of God. Follow the example of Jesus Christ and do His work. His work is to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of all of us. So, we help Him do that. When we do all of those things we WILL achieve immortality and eternal life. Cool huh? So let's get to it!
And don't forget to smile along the way!
