Temptations
In my scripture study this morning I read a talk by our beloved prophet-Thomas S. Monson. Its all about choice-the right of choice, the responsibility of choice, and the results of choice. In this talk he quoted a verse of scripture that the Apostle Paul wrote to the Corinthians, found in Corinthians 10:13. Paul states that
"There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptations also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it."
This is true in all aspects of life, even when it comes to living healthy. God would not allow us to be tempted above that which we are able to withstand. Sometimes it seems impossible to say no to that5th 2nd cookie. Most of the time it is hard for me to say no to another handful of chocolate chips (seriously, one of my hardest temptations). Sometimes, though not often anymore, it is awfully tempting to skip the day's workout. We are tempted everyday to to things we probably shouldn't be doing, but the comforting thing is that we can withstand them. We can because God wouldn't tempt us with something that we could not withstand. So, today I am going to challenge myself, and anyone else who wants to try it too, to withstand one of your biggest temptations for today. You can do it. I can do it. If we withstand our temtpations today, they will be easier to withstand tomorrow. Good luck!
