To be financially healthy

In the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints we are taught that debt is not a good thing. We have been counseled to get out of debt. Well, I believe that being financially healthy is part of being healthy in general, because when you are financially healthy, there is more chance that you will be spiritually healthy as well as physically healthy. Spiritually healthy because you are not stressed out with finances, which in turn is better for the health of your marriage. Physically healthy because you can afford to eat healthy and exercise and all of those wonderful things. I believe that in order to achieve perfect health, all of these different parts of your soul must be perfectly healthy.

Well, my husband and I got one step closer to being perfectly financially healthy today! We sent a check in the mail to pay off our car loan! Now we will own it! What does that mean? We are COMPLETELY DEBT FREE! No more student loans to pay. We don't have a house payment yet (because we are renting wherever we move). And now both of our truck and car are paid off! Now I think we will put the amount we have been paying every month in our savings account per month. That way we can save for aanother car when we eventually have toget one (I am hoping not anytime soon!) This will add to the already weekly amount we are saving. I am a big believer of saving money. It is so important to your financial healthiness. Scott and I started this year by having an automatic deposit $10 put in our savings account. As the year has progressed we have realized that we were able to put more in each week. Now we are quadrupling that each month. We don't even have to think about it. Money saving is so important! Even if you start small like we did, it still is worth it. I mean, ten dollars a week, that is 40-50 dollars a month! By the end of the year you will have saved $520! It is well worth it! Over a ten year period that is $5200, and that is not including interest! So, saving is a good idea! It helped us pay off our car in two years! Start out small. Anything is better than nothing!

I just posted something on finances this morning. I totally agree that not being a good steward of our money can just creep into all parts of our lives. Way to pay off the car!
