Exercise Ball
As I mentioned awhile ago, I got an exercise ball for Christmas.
Three weeks ago I ordered a dvd done by Giam that is an exercise ball dvd, so I could know what I am doing when I use said exercise ball.
I got it yesterday.
I used it today.
Here is my review:
Love the exercise ball. Note to self: next time I have to buy one don't use the hand pump that they give you to pump it up. It took me a half hour to almost pump it all the way up. When I took the pump out it deflated some and I realized that I could use the pump we use for the air mattress, so I used it and blew the ball up in less than a minute. Wish I would have thought of that one earlier.
Because I was pressed for time I picked the 30 minute segment. Using my heart rate monitor I timed it and it calculated my calories. Now, my heart rate monitor is not top notch, it takes the pulse from my hand not by using a chest strap. According to my heart rate monitor watch I burned ruffly 171 calories. Not bad, but not as many as I burn with the Jillian Michaels workout (I did the 30 minute thirty day shred yesterday, the highest level, and burned around 400-500 cals).
The exercise ball is good to help achieve better balance. A good core work out. I would probably equate it to Pilates. Its a good workout, and definitely will tone, it just doesn't burn many calories, so if you are looking to burn those 3 slices of pizza you had last night, choose another workout to do.
Overall, I loved it. The workout was somewhat challenging. I will probably be sore tomorrow. I think that if I pair it with the 30 day shred DVD some days, then I will find that it will help me become more toned and feel better. It was a very relaxing workout.
I would definitely recommend it.
