No pain, No gain
This morning, I said that I need to re-evaluate myself, eat better, and exercise better this week. I ment exercising 6 days this week and sticking to my 5 small meals a day. Well, today I did what is customary for Mondays, I did the Jillian Michaels "No trouble Zones" dvd. Its the weight lifting circuit training one. I have found that this is one of the best workout dvds I have found, and I have tried a lot. Its easier for me to workout at home, so this is what I do. A few weeks ago I started using my ten pounders on the chest press and butterfly moves, but on the other circuits I used my threes, except for the bicep-focused circuit, where I use fives. As I started my workout today I was going to do the very same thing, until right after the warm up. I looked down at my weights and thought, "I wonder...". So, I picked up my fives and started using them. I used my fives and tens through out the whole workout! Oh, how my muscles burned! Oh, how I wanted to use the light ones! But, I didn't. I used the heavierones. My arms and shoulders are going to be SORE! Yay!!!!! I know, you are probably thinking, why do you want to be sore? Well, I welcome being sore, because I know I was challenged, and that my body will change and get stronger as I do it more. Yes, my muscles burned during the workout, and oh, how I wanted to go lighter, but man do I feel a high right now for not backing down! I said, "Go away you inner critic! I CAN do it, and I will!" Guess what? I did!
That's the key-tell your inner critic no, and that you can do anything that you think you can.
Man! Do I feel good! I challenge anyone who reads this post to go do something today that they don't think they can do. If you don't think you can walk a mile, go and do it! If you don't think you can lift weights. Go and do it! If there is anything that you think would be cool to do, but don't think you can, create a plan, and get er done! You can do it! Gosh, look how good I feel about myself today, and I just increased what I lift by 2 pounds! That's not much, but man, it feels good! If there is anything that I have learned over these 8 +months since i started this weight loss thing, it is that you can do what you don't think you can do. Look at me, I was almost 40 pounds overweight last august! I could hardly walk 1 mile, let alone run it! Since then, I have run a half marathon-A HALF-MARATHON! Never in my wildest dreams would I have thought that were possible! I have lost almost 40 pounds. I have completely changed my eating habits. I am more fit than I have ever been in my entire life! Ever! I feel great! If little, insignificant me can do it, then definitely you can do something you thought never possible too! It can be as little as walking once a week, or eating less sugar. It can happen, just think that it will!
Okay, it will be hard. Trust me, I know. I struggle with it every day. But remember, as you make your goals, there will be tough times. There will be times of pain (like during workouts-I mean, like burn, [not lasting pain-thats bad]). But, IT IS WORTH IT! No pain, no gain. My new thing I have been saying is Go big, or go home. Go big! Go do something today that you never thought possible! It is fun, and you will feel so much better about yourself!
Okay, sometimes my mind runs away with me and I can't stop typing, especially when it is something I care so strongly about. Go, make yourself feel better today! YOU are SO WORTH the it!
