Workout alternative

I have never been a HUGE fan of excercising.  I do it because I know it will help me stay healthy, end of story.  Sometimes it is somewhat enjoyable, but most of the time I am fighting myself until the very end.  I just have to remind myself of the feeling of accomplishment I get AFTER my workout, and that is what gets me to do the workout each day.  Yesterday was one of those days.

I so did not want to use a workout dvd to workout.  I did not feel like going for a run (that will be saved for tomorrow), but I needed to do something for a workout, so I decided to have a basketball practice by myself.  Did you know that about me?  I played basketball in middle school and one year of high school.  Point guard baby.  I loved it.  My most vivid memories of basketball are cherry picking with the other guard during one of my 8th grade games.  We just killed them, if I remember correctly.  It felt SOOOO good.  Another VERY vivid memory is crying as my 7th grade coach made us do wall sits as we passed the ball to each other.  Talk about PAIN.  I hated those, and I literally cried.  They worked us hard.  Suicides, laps around the field.  I HATED those practices, but I am so glad they did them.  I decided yesterday to bring myself back to yester-year and practice some basketball.  What did I learn yesterday?  I am not nearly as good as I was as an 8th grader.  Not even close. But it was so fun to shoot some hoops and practice dribbling.  I even made myself do suicides!  I also employed my parents jump rope.  What a good, different, and fun workout!  I recommend it to anyone.  It was so fun to do something different for a change.  Seriously.

I just picked up basketball in the past several months and fell in love. I am horrible -- I think I made 3 shots in 50 minutes. But, the workout flew by and I'm a huge fan!
