Dress for a healthy body image

Dress for success.

Have you ever heard that saying?????

Dressing nicely is one of the many things I do to make me feel good about myself.  Let me explain:

In the last 1 1/2 years since I started this journey, I have learned that dressing for how you want to feel will lead to success, and will indeed make you feel better about yourself.  It's a cause and effect type thing:

When I wear grungy/baggy clothes during the day, I tend to be lazier; I tend to feel more negative about my body, about life in general.  Its just not so good.  Don't get me wrong, I love these clothes, but they have a place for bedtime.

When I were nicer clothers during the day, I tend to be happier; I tend to do more and get more things done; I tend to feel better about my body.  All in all it just feels better.

I don't know why this is how it is, I just know that it is.  I feel better about myself when I dress in a way that makes me feel good, and feel like I look good.

I am no fashionista stylist person, but here are some things that I do/wear to help my self-esteem:

Wear clothes that fit.  Simple, simple.  When I wear baggy clothes I feel frumpy and I feel like I look bigger.  I don't want that.  This has the opposite effect I want.  When I wear clothes that fit, I just feel better about myself.  Wear clothes that you like, and that you think look good.

I do my hair.  When my hair is done, I feel like a million dollars (unless it is just one of those types of hair days, in which case I wear a cute hat, or bobby my bangs up instead).

I wear earrings if your ears are pierced, or other jewelry if they aren't.  I know, this one is kind of weird, but I cannot go a day without my dangle earrings.  I don't wear a ton of make up (mascara is it for me, except for special occassions), and even when I wear no make up at all, earrings make me feel special and classy.  They make you look dressed up any day.

I know that taking the time to get ready in the morning (even amongst taking care of the kiddos, the laundry, getting the house clean, or anything else on our long list of things to do) does make me feel better about myself.  Hopefully it will do the same for you!

What do you do each day to feel good about yourself?
