To eat healthier
From the time my baby started eating solids, I decided that I wanted to mainly make her food. I fed her both jars and homemade food. But, as we found out we were moving I had to use up all of our food in the fridge/freezer so I would just take the frozen veggies we had and steam them, and then mill them. You can buy a baby food mill online, or a regular food mill at a store. Both work. Since then, I have only done homemade food for my baby. She actually prefers it. I feel better doing homemade food for her because there is no preservatives, and I know exactly what is going in her food.
I firmly believe that eating homemade, healhty meals, leads to optimal health. I can control exactly what is put in my food and how much. I don't eat many artificial flavors, or preservatives. My philosophy is that it is the healthiest to eat the most natural form of a product. For example: it is better to eat a fresh pinapple instead of canned pinnapple in heavy syrup. Granted, there are things that I eat that are packeged (like dark chocolate-I just can't seem to get away from it!), but the majority is fresh fruit and veggies, as well as grains. Instead of cereal I often eat oatmeal or homemade homeground wheat bread. It tastes better and is healthier for you. I am constantly making decisions about eating one food over another. Reading labels and studying what experts say really helps. The main thing I follow is the Word of Wisdom found in D&C 89. I want those promises at the end to be fulfilled for me that I shall walk and not faint, run and not be weary, have health in my bones and in my navel, to find wisdom, even to have the destroying angel to pass by me like the children of Israel. I want that. It is more than just eating healthy. If I eat healthy then it will be easier to be healthy in other aspects of my life. They are all connected. I urge all to follow the Word of Wisdom, the health code, because it works. It works to help you lose weight. It works to keep you healthy. If you follow it you will receive blessings.
Okay, now I am getting off my pedestal. Sorry this post is scatterbrained. I often do free-writing when I post. But, I am glad I wrote this. It reminded me of the reasons why I do what I do!
