An important Battle Won

2 months ago I said no to eating a cookie, or dough when I was baking and afterward.  I felt on top of the world.  Yesterday I had to make cookies for a church activity, and because I decided to control food earlier this week, I felt it necessary to see if I could make them without ever sampling the dough, or 10 cookies afterwards.  I made the dough in the morning for it to sit in the fridge during the day.  I didn't lick the pan after I melted the chocolate.  Battle 1 won.  I didn't try ANY dough, even when it got in my finger.  Battle 2 won!  I didn't touch it during the day.  Battle 3 won!  I knew that since I won those small battles, then I could surely win the biggest, and hardest one- snacking on the dough and the finished product while I was baking.  While rolling the cookies, I didn't even lick my hands.  I didn't eat 20 of the rolos as I was unwrapping them (on of my all time favorites, they were going in the inside of the chocolate cookie dough, one of my favorite cookies).  And, I didn't even eat a cookie when they were done (you know, to test it out...).  None of the cookie process made it to my mouth, and I felt like I had won a HUGE battle in this choosing to control my food.  I think I have come to realize that its better to not eat it at all (especially when you have planned not to) then to even taste it.  Because when I taste it, I end up tasting too much of it.  Because I have planned to only have a sweet on Sunday (our Church potluck), I am trying to think of one of my most favorite desserts to make and spend those calories on something that I really want, not something I just want to try.  I think I might make a salad, or another healthy dish for it, so that I am not tempted to get anything else.  I already know I will be in control because I have decided to be.  It will feel so good!

I also had another perfect eating day yesterday.  My calories were right on as well as my snacking. I had no extra snacking, even when K had leftover grilled cheese on her plate (I love grilled cheese!!!!).

These quotes from President Thomas S. Monson of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints are quotes I found as I was reading today.  They come from this talk.

"Decisions do determine Destiny."
"There are countless worthy goals to reach as we travel through life. Needed is our commitment to reach them."

Hope these quotes help you throughout your day as you make good decisions and choices to make a better you.  I know they will help me make good choices!

I love that talk by President Monson as well. It is by far one of my favorites.
