Yo, Jam it up
Today I made jam and yogurt! Usually I do freezer jam, but I felt ambitious, and we don't have any room in the freezer (slight technicality), so I pulled out my steam canner, mashed up some strawberries, and steamed some jam! I was so giddy when I took those jars out of the canner and the lids popped! So much fun! I was so afraid to do it by myself, because every other time I have used the canner I had help, but I did it! If there is one thing I can pick out that I think is important about a diet, is that it is so worth the time and energy to homemake food. I don't care what it is, homemade is better. Jam is no exception. I grew up with homemade jam always in our home, and my husband was the same, and I just don't like store bought. There is a difference. So, I make jam. Storebought doesn't even compare. The hours of constantly stiring the jam so worth the end result! I used honey and 100% apple juice along with no sugar needed pectin to make these, so I could avoid refined sugar, and I really think it tastes great! So excited!
