My, how time flies! But, there is ALWAYS time for baking!

I'm sure you girls have been there: Your week is busy, busy, busy and then all of a sudden you find yourself at Friday wondering where went your time?  That has been the last couple of weeks.  They've been filled with homework, and all of my many other duties. They have also been filled with baking.  Last night I made Fiber Bars again (from Trainermomma).  I think I am hooked on those bad boys.  I found a recipe gold-mine the other day, through another blog I follow, called Heavenly Homemakers.  She pretty much makes everything homemade instead of buying it-something I want to aspire to.  I was so excited to see a Whole Wheat Hamburger Bun recipe, that I had to try it yesterday.  It was such a failed attempt, I am embarrassed to say.  Mine were too small, and too dense.  That does not mean, however that I am not going to try them again.  But this time I am going to take out my two little friends when I make them: dough enhancer, and vital wheat gluten who are going to help the density issue.  I am also going to use a bigger cookie cutter (Use a big one).  I calculated the calories per bun to be 119, very slightly under the buns you can find at the store.  The failed attempt kind of changed my mood last night, poor Scott and K!  I redeemed myself by making Pumpkin Chocolate Chip muffins (also from Trainermomma).  Scott requested them for breakfast this morning, so I was happy to oblige.  I needed to bake to get my baking disaster of my mind!  Exercise helped too! ;)  I think I am going to try this bun recipe again on Saturday.  I will not let it defeat me!  Today I am going to try making her Whole Wheat Graham Crackers.  Can't wait to see how those turn out!  She also has other recipes I want to try: Whole Wheat Donuts, Honey Whole Wheat Bagels,Applesauce Bread, Ranch Dressing, Snickerdoodles, Homemade Chocolate Chips, among many others.

I will keep you updated as I try them, and give you reviews.  Later today I will post about my graham cracker making adventures.  Hope you have a good day today!

What is your favorite thing to bake?

I'll be very interested about the graham crackers. Please let me know how that goes. Sorry about the buns but it surely does take practice. There was a great article in the BYU alumni mag this past month about this stay at home mom made it her mission to make homemade bread. She we went all out and ended up writing a cook book.
